California Fire Department Uses AI for Early Wildfire Detection
The California Fire Department, in collaboration with the University of California, San Diego, has launched the 'California Alert AI' program, which utilizes cameras and artificial intelligence for early wildfire detection. The program has successfully identified at least one wildfire in its early stages, which was quickly contained. The system uses AI to analyze feedback from 360-degree rotating cameras and automatically alerts emergency responders to take action.
